Spain, 1648. The Thirty Years’ War has ended in defeat. Catalonia has been lost. Portugal has declared independence. Yet for King Philip IV, none of these events compares with his greatest concern - his own appearance. How can one rule a kingdom while feeling trapped inside a body inherited rather than chosen? Is it possible to be a worthy monarch when one’s greatest enemy is the reflection in the mirror?
